Or Maybe Nothing is Embarrassing? | Re: everything is embarrassing
This post made me think about my own relationship to embarrassment.
A saying that I live by is: it can't be embarrassing if you aren't embarrassed. This is something I say to myself when other people admonish me for something they think I should be embarrassed by. But if you arenβt ashamed of whatever it is they are admonishing you for, their reaction will not bother you; and as such, this is how I try to live my life.
Of course there are things that I am embarrassed by, and sure, not even close to everything I write makes it onto my blog...but I'll share drafts with my husband and family in a "look at what I made" way. Not because it's good, or even needs to be, but because I made it and I want to show off my creativity (even when that creative output misses).
